This holiday season has been one of rolling with punches and unexpected joys and challenges around every corner. After being snowed in for several days (hello Cabin Fever!), we decided it would be wise to have a change of scenery and drive into town for a family lunch. Since most of our local restaurants are closed, we headed to one of my kids' favorites... Shari's. I can't hate on Shari's. You pretty much know what you are getting when you eat here. And it won't be delicious, healthy or experimental cuisine. No matter what time of day, my kids usually choose strawberry pancakes and hot chocolate loaded with whipped cream (I know they are really hoping for whipped cream with a little hot chocolate). I always look through the menu searching for 'something better' a really long time and have something I consider pretty mediocre. On the plus side, the service at this location is usually great. Especially so on our most recent visit. We had to repeatedly say "enough already" with the refills. I think the standard menu pricing is a bit high for what you get, but there are always coupons available, so we almost always get one entrée for free. My parents actually enjoy going here with the boys and they get reduced prices on their food from the "honored" menu. Since West Linn is a pretty small city, this location is also a go-to for high school students after a game, play, etc. So a special thank you to the servers on the Friday and Saturday night shifts. Believe me, I have the 'please tip' conversation with my son every time. I think the season has me feeling generous with stars and I'll throw a three their way.

It took 10 minutes to get someone to seat me and my friend. We sat at the table for another 12 minutes without any drinks or service at all. We saw people who were seated after us get drinks. I waved extremely obviously at a male employee in a purple shirt, and he clearly saw me. He proceeded to help the guy paying. We walked out. My friend said this Sharis is consistently slower service than the quick one we've been to in Tualatin. Give this place a big pass.

My husband Listened all day at work to the advertisement for prime rib and shrimp night. So He decided to take me honey out to dinner. First impression very friendly waitress who oops forgot to clean the table before taking us to be seated. Ok I can live with that. Got our drinks right away i ordered coffee with cream unfortunately it came with no silverware. My husband finally got some from another table, hmm and within 5 minutes our order was taken. Oh but at 615 pm they were out of prime rib. Okay they will let us buy a more expensive diner and throw in the shrimp. Ok but I passed and ordered something else while my honey ordered a steak with the shrimp. Ok 1 cup of coffee, hmmm 2 cups of coffee, hmmm as I was poring my third cup of coffee the waitress came to inform us that at 640 pm they were out of baked potatoes. Come on its Friday night in Portland are you kidding. We left 2 dollars for the coffee . Oh and by the way the waitress informed us the coffee was 2.25, but the manager said never mind. Gee thanks Won't be back.

Amber was wonderful! Thank you for the lovely service!! We just moved here from Cali and always get really great food each time. So many people complain and I can't see why. Everyone is nice and great food!

That's just wrong!!! My wife ordered a T-bone steak for $16 she specifically asked for medium-rare. When it came it was very well done. She had the salad and bread until she could get someone's attention. By then she did not want to possibly ruin another steak so she sent it back. The manager only took off $9 out of $16 since she ate the salad and bread. That's just wrong!!!

Wow I must say that was a very pleasant experience at a restaurant that I have not been fond of in the past. Amazing service food was pretty good! Thanks for turning it around!

Terrible service. Was ignored while the manager chatted with friends. Had to call him over. He seemed annoyed to have to take our order.

I have been living in West Linn for 13 years Sharis is always been around. Today I did not receive my food when my family did, they apologized many times and gave us a free meal. Very understanding and very understanding. I really appreciated I did enjoy my meal. I got two pieces of lemon meringue pie excellent. I will go back

Returned for a second visit and received much better service. Our waitress was more attentive, the food was delivered promptly, and our overall experience was way better than last time. I think they have a new manager in here now.

It's a hit or miss experience at Shari's but it's lesser than a mile from my house. Why not!!!

I typically don't review chain type restaurants, but I had to for this one, the food is pretty average like other Shari's places, however, the service here is dismal. Slow, rude, and argumentative staff. I ordered coffee once and it was luke warm, when I told them that the coffee is not hot enough, the manager came and told me that that is as hot as it gets and after arguing with me, finally in a huff brought hotter coffee. Also, they had a milkshake advertised that said "If this isn't the best milk shake you've tasted, we will refund your money" and at $5.99, it really was mediocre, when we told the waitress, she argued with us about how that is how it's supposed to taste. Yeah, pretty rude staff.

Okay, little change from my latest review. I have had very negative experiences at this Sharis but recently I was notified that the waitress that had been rude, and inattentive no longer works there. A new person replaced him and is the exact opposite. Hope you get this new gentleman and your experience will be much nicer.

According to the all-mighty Wikipedia *bows down in reverence*, a 'security blanket' is defined as: "any familiar object whose presence provides comfort or security..." This Shari's location is the (insert air quote) restaurant (end air quote) equivalent of a security blanket for me those few times a year when I venture back home to The Linn for various family-related purposes. Every time I'm home, I inevitably end up here at least once. From the moment I pull up into the parking lot, it reminds me of the many nights in high school when everyone and their mother (figuratively speaking...for the most part) would end up here after a game, a play performance, etc. When I walk in through those familiar doors and take in the foresty-green and wooden decor, it makes me think of all the endless, meandering discussions we used to have about subjects ranging from Sondheim to sports to which animal you think could take over the world (the answer: penguins). Bottom line is: Shari's has okay food, okay service...it's okay across the board. But it's an easy place to gather, it stays open 24 hrs, and nothing can replace some of the random memories I've had because this place existed. So I guess when I come back next month to celebrate the shared birthday of baby Jesus and my dear mother, I'll probably wind up here. And if I know you, then yes... you're coming too.

Really can't add much to the other reviews about this particular Shari's. I had occasion to stopy by for breakfast the other day, upon finding out that nearby Rose's was not serving on Monday's. As others have noted, the food selection here is pretty predictable and the quality nothing to write home about. Got the Country biscuit breakfast the other day, and still can't get over how tasteless everything was. Nothing was bad, but this had to be one of the most boring meals I've had in a long time. On the other hand, you certainly get a heaping pile of food for your money. For my $9.50 (or so), I got 3 biscuits smothered in gravy, 5 pieces of bacon, two fried eggs and enough hashbrowns to choke a goat. I got through half of my meal before just giving up. Service was also pretty OK here. The young (very attractive, there's no denying that) waitress was pleasant and friendly, though it took a while to get my check while I waited for her to get done socializing at a nearby table (I'm guessing this is probably a chronic problem with this young lady). I'll end by just saying this. If quantity is more important to you than quality when it comes to restaurant food (which I know it is for many people and many families with young children), and if you want a place that serves decent, reliable and predictably large portions of food at a more than fair price, then Shari's will be a hit for you. However, if you're looking for a place for a special dining out experience, then I'd definitely go elsewhere. There's nothing wrong with the Shari's of the world, but I just don't think it's for me. Going out to get stuffed on mediocre food at a cheap price is just not what I'm looking for any more in a restaurant.

Excellent selection, with specials like free deserts some days of the week, and great service!

I get off work pretty late so I love having a place to come to. The food is actually pretty good- but not as cheap as I would like. However I got really tired of the 24 hr subway I used to go to. Im a vegetarian, but they are always super great about substituting and taking meat out. Its also a fun place to go with friends just to chill, drink milk shakes and not have to worry about it closing. Most of the staff is super friendly- a couple not so much. But i understand its one o clock in the morning i don't expect the best customer service. So i still tip well. The manager is incredibly friendly tho, and he seems to be really nice to his employees which is important. Only bad things would be the decor- so outdated. but the food and service is good so i will live with it
